Our History

Living in the capital city with a ski boat to enjoy on Lake Travis was the dream that brought Scott Trimm and his family to Austin. Upon his arrival in the early 1980’s, he decided to start a drywall company that he ran out of his garage. And his timing couldn’t have been better.

Over the next two years, the small, quaint city of Austin started experiencing major growth. New businesses were moving in and new offices were in high demand. Through various projects with his drywall company, Scott had developed a strong relationship with Trammell Crow. When Trammel Crow offered him an opportunity to start general contracting for the company’s projects, he knew this was the big break his small garage start-up had been waiting for. One week later, Trimbuilt Construction Inc. was born.

The first official Trimbuilt office was a 1500 sq. ft. warehouse with a 10' by 10' office. It was big enough for a two-sided desk from an old railroad station and Scott Trimm’s most prized possession since moving to Austin—a ski boat for Lake Travis. The boat did not see a lot of action during the workweek in the early years, but the business did. Scott knew in order to be successful, he would have to roll up his sleeves and take an active role in getting the job done. It’s a principle that he’s held onto since day one.

After more than 25 years in operation, it’s hard to spot a building in Austin that this homegrown garage start-up hasn’t had a role in developing. And that’s something that Scott, and everyone at Trimbuilt, is very proud of.
